Serious or sarcastic? I can't tell!

From time to time, I read a response from someone that just blows my mind because their ideas are so alien, so outrageous and yet I understand that they are perfectly serious in regard to what they are saying. Their statement is a true reflection of their mind. So be it.

Even more rare is the post that not only blows my mind, but also leaves me wondering if the comment is a serious comment or a sarcastic comment disguised as a serious one. Such is the case with the following comment I recently read as a response to an article attributed to lay author Sarah Palin (actually ghost authored for her) entitled Copenhagen's political science .

Here is the post (click to enlarge, back button to return to post):

So what is your vote on this comment? Is it seriously how someone thinks? Is it sarcasm disguised as a real sentiment? I'd like to hear from you!

  1. Gotta be fake. No God-fearing Bible-toting patriot would admit to having a "Goddess"--even Ann Coulter.

  2. It very well could be Sarcasm!

However, there is a Group of People referred to as "Nationalists", who are basically far extreme right Republicans, bordering on Insanity, who actually BELIEVE in Eaxctly what this post says!

So although this particular post is hard to determine, there ARE at least tens of thousands of People who actually DO think exactly this way. They are VERY Sick, Pathetic and Racist People, but they do Live & Breathe, and think as this person has posted in their thoughts!

Ann Coulter IS a nut case that shouldn't even be ON National T.V., because she publically expresses these views on air, which is a BAD Practice, because it condones both Hatred & Violence, as well as Racism!

If the Apocalypse is coming, it is THESE Evil People who will help to hasten it, and THEY will be the ones "Cast Out" by God, not their enemies!

  3. Hey Owl,

I found you via Facebook and the Public Citizen Webinar that I am listening to as I write this.

My impression is that somebody like Jesus General the liberal blogger or Colbert/Stewart might've written this as sarcasm. Nothing like this could ever be thought of as real. (or could it)...I understand your confusion. These nutballs are putting Bible quotes on their guns now so anything is possible.
